Question: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Answer: I have been playing lacrosse for four years.

Question: Who/what got you to start playing lacrosse?

Answer: I got started with lacrosse because in 8th grade I was looking for another sport to do because I was not as into swimming as I had been in years past and since it was a fairly new sport to the region at the time my parent signed me up and I’ve loved it ever since.

Question: What is your training like (How many days a week for how many hours)?

Answer: We practice everyday for two hours where the first half hour is our warm up where we run for 10 minutes, stretch, do sprints, and then shuttles which is a drill that helps us with passing and for the rest of the time we do drills and work on different plays and skills.

Question: Why do you play lacrosse?

Answer: I play lacrosse because I really enjoy the game, I think it is a lot of fun and it is one of the only sports that I have tried that I have not gotten bored with.

Question: How does it feel when you are preparing for a game?

Answer: Preparing for a game is super exciting! I like to pump myself up and get excited to play. Right before we start our warm-ups I usually get really nervous and then the more we warm-up the more focused and very serious I become. Then right before the game I am just a mixture of forces, nerves, and excitement.

Question: What is your biggest accomplishment in your sport?

Answer: The biggest accomplishment in my sport is learning each position. I am mainly a defender, but last year I was a goalie and throughout the years I have been playing I dappled in the the offensive side as well.

Question: What is your biggest challenge?

Answer: My biggest challenge is pushing myself past my limits in practice sometimes I have just had a really long or a really lazy day and I don’t want to try my best, but I have to push through because I know that it will benefit me and my team in the long run.

Question: What is the best advice you have ever received?

Answer:  The best advice I have ever received is to finish what you have started no matter how much you don’t want to because you have already made a commitment.

Question: Who is your role model/hero?

Answer: My role model would definitely be my dad because he has taught me to always give 110 percent (and does so by example as well). He also gives me the best encouragement when I need it.

Question: How do you plan on training for the next season?
Answer: I will be playing club lacrosse in college and in order to train for that I will be doing a lot of running this summer to increase my speed and endurance. I will also keep up my stick skills by playing catch with my brother who is 8 years old and just started up in boys lacrosse.

Question: Were you surprised that you won athlete of the subway athlete of the week? Why?

Answer: I was very surprised to have won because I did not think I was doing anything special at practice. I was just there everyday to work and improve and really didn’t think it was so noticeable.
