On Tuesday Sept. 13, Car Show & Cruise Nights Illinois organized the last Huntley Car Cruise Night of 2016. The Huntley Vintage Car Cruise was hosted in downtown Huntley, beginning at 5 p.m. and lasting until 8 p.m.

The theme of this week’s event was muscle cars. Everything from Corvette Stingrays to Ford Mustangs were featured. Over 25 classic muscle cars were featured at the event, ending the year with a bang.

The event was augmented by pleasant weather, great food, 1950s music, and the roar of  many engines. Attendance was high as Huntley’s Town Square was packed with onlookers gazing at the variety of show vehicles.

Tuesday night was the first car cruise for attendee Benjamin Mackowski. However, Mackowski wishes he would have visited earlier in the summer.

“Everything from the cars to the music reminded me of my childhood,” Mackowski said. “I wish I had known about this last week.”

The Huntley Vintage Car Cruise Night began earlier this summer, beginning on July 7 and continuing each Tuesday. Each week’s events had a certain theme and attendees were entertained by the Huntley Community Radio, who have been playing music from the ’50s and ’60s, such as Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Henry Kelly, a resident of Huntley, said that he has “tried to go each week since the program started”.

“Not only do we enjoy showing and talking about our cars, but the atmosphere is really nice,” Kelly said. “We are all friends here and everyone is so nice to each other.”

Kelly hopes that the Cruise Night continues next year, believing that “it would be a real shame if this does not last. I met many people here who I would call friends and I hope to meet many more.”
