Boys bowling finishes ninth at Sycamore tournament

As the lights dim the bowlers position themselves in front of each lane. Everyone is standing in silence as the national anthem sounds from the intercoms. Once The Star-Spangled Banner is done the sound of pins tumbling begins to overwhelm the room. On Nov. 9, Huntley’s varsity boys bowling team attended the Sycamore tournament, the first game of their season.

Boys bowling began two weeks ago. Since then, the boys have improved greatly and will continue to improve throughout the season.

“We strive to constantly improve on out game and improve everyday” stated Coach O’Neill.

The tournament consisted of six games; three in the morning and three during the afternoon. A total of 12 schools competed at the Sycamore Tournament.

The top two players for the first game were Grand Garder with a score of 244 and Brandon Anzalone with a score of 231. The top team’s total score was 982 leaving Huntley in sixth place.

In the second game,  Beau Rehner scored 225, and Jake Manczko scored of 173. After two games Huntley was in eighth place with a team total of 859.

Beau Rehner with a scoref 224 and Brandon Anzalone with a scored 207 in the fourth game leading Huntley’s team. Huntley moved passed one team into seventh place with a team total of 932.

In the fourth game for the day the Brandon Anzalone and Jonel Alcasid led Huntley with scores of 186 and 174 respectfully.

Huntley ended the day with a team total of 751 and finished in ninth place.
