Craft Donuts + Coffee Provide Delicacies

By Mady Borst

I was eager to enter Craft Donuts + Coffee, as I felt the cold, autumn breeze brush against my skin.

The moment I walked into the coffee shop, I felt welcomed by the strong smell of donuts and coffee swirling in the air.

Craft Donuts + Coffee is a family owned and operated business located in West Dundee. Freshly roasted coffee and handcrafted donuts are sold each day from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Though the commute to Craft is lengthier for Huntley residents, I wanted to ditch my typical Dunkin’ Donuts run and get a taste of fresher coffee and donuts for the day.

I was amazed by the warm, modern environment that I was surrounded by.

Black, eye-catching chandeliers hung from the ceiling, leather booths and sofa couches complimented the shop’s industrialized look, and beige brick walls enclosed the comforting space.

Being impressed by the aesthetic feel of the shop, I was expecting outstanding donuts and coffee, and that is exactly what I was served.

After contemplating over the wide variety of donuts and drinks that Craft has to offer, I decided to go with the Candy Crumb ($2.39) and the Boston Creme donuts ($2.99).

I also ordered a 12-ounce Caramel Iced Coffee ($2.99) and a 16-oz S’mores Mocha ($4.95).

Apart from the numerous flavors, Craft even has vegan and gluten-free options, which allow every customer to feel included.

The wait for the drinks was only a couple of minutes, so I was able to sit down and enjoy my meal almost immediately.

My first sip of the iced coffee was anything but a disappointment. The drink had the perfect blend between all its ingredients, thus tasting light and refreshing.

The S’mores Mocha brought even more flavors to the table. Its splendid marshmallow and chocolate taste reminded me of roasting s’mores during a bonfire on a cold, fall night.

Craft’s coffee has a high level of quality that cannot be attained by local fast food chains.

The donuts topped off my pleasant experience, making the shop one of my favorite places for a delightful breakfast.

Both donuts had fluffy breading, which is not the typical texture of donuts I have eaten before.

The Candy Crumb donut tasted like a gourmet candy bar, with its crumb mixture topping of Oreo cookies and candy pieces. Additionally, the chocolate frosting and vanilla filling of the Boston Cream donut tasted rich and real.

The healthy, high-quality ingredients in the donuts stripped away the guilt I typically feel after eating donuts from Dunkin’ Donuts or the grocery store.

Craft’s delicious food and beverages, accompanied by its modernized environment, allow donut and coffee lovers to get a quick bite, or to sit down, relax, and soak in the joyous atmosphere.

Taking a trip to Craft Donuts + Coffee makes for the perfect day in historic downtown West Dundee.
