Nov. 10, 11, and 12, Huntley High School is showcasing their musical production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” in the Performing Arts Center.

The show is a story about overachievers and unlikely heroes competing in a spelling bee in which they’re able to stand out in their own ways among their competitors. It is two hours long and has absolutely no issue with keeping the crowd in a constant state of laughter.

“This show was so fun to be a part of,” sophomore Hayley Robbins, who played the role of Logainne Schwartzandgrubeniere, said. “Even though you have to put a lot of effort into it, it’s so worth it when you step out on stage and feel a rush of happiness.”

When it comes to the actual show however, most students thought it was an actual spelling bee rather than a musical, which goes to show that not many people know about the production in comparison to other titles such as “Legally Blonde” or “Grease.”

“This show isn’t well known and it should be for how funny it is,” sophomore Braeden Clements, who played the role of William Barfee and Dan Dad, said.

Not to mention that the show includes audience participation which makes the production even better with the unique jokes tailored to each member.

“The show definitely takes a lot of time and there’s a lot of super stressful and super happy moments that come along with it, but my favorite part about this production is the cast,” sophomore Kate Urosevich, playing both the role of Rona Lisa Perretti and a speller, said. “Everyone’s super supportive and there’s been a really good community of people built through this show.”

So make sure to come see the musical, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” this weekend at the PAC. I can guarantee that you’ll have a case of the giggles.
