Hot off the Dress with Amelia Pozniak

By Amelia Pozniak

As snow continues to fall, students at Huntley High School protect their feet with fuzzy socks and fashionable boots. Although the cold weather often encourages hoodies and sweatpants, some of our students do an exceptional job of dressing up their cozy clothes with cute sneakers.

As Air Force 1’s continue to be a popular trend, sneakers are still the most significant style of shoe throughout the winter months. White vans come in a close second, along with Nike Air Max’s and Doc Martens.

“My Doc Martens because they are fashionable, yet keep my feet warm. You can pair them with cute, long socks too,” sophomore Ava Brancato said.

Personally, Doc Martens continues to be my favorite trend throughout the cold winter months. I own them in matte black and matte white. I often pair them with black jeans and patterned pants. If it’s warm enough, they look adorable with a skirt.

Another pair of shoes that I love are colored high-top Converse. I received an orange pair for Christmas. You can dress them up or down, and they add a great deal of personality to any outfit!

There are many stores that sell shoes, even if they aren’t a shoe outlet. The obvious DSW Warehouse and Dicks Sporting Goods sell many popular trends. Tillys and Pacsun also sell trendy styles, such as Vans and different styles of Nikes.

To pair a plain pair of sneakers with cool socks, I would highly suggest checking out Pacsun. Brandy Mellville sells adorable patterned socks for women that go really well with white sneakers.

“I think patterned socks are dope. They’re different, and they show character. Sometimes I wear patterned socks to cheer practice. I would typically wear them with white sneakers, or Crocs if i’m just chillin’,” sophomore Ava Garifo said.

Even if your outfits are slacking, a cool pair of shoes can truly spice up any outfit. Taking care of your sneakers and keeping them clean can add a sleek look to any style!
