BREAKING NEWS: Senior spirit days not allowed, school unity encouraged

In an effort to make sure that the school is unified during homecoming week, Senior Spirit Days are not allowed according to school officials.

“If a group actively pursues spirit days that are not supported by the school we absolutely have the right not to admit them to the homecoming dance,” said Tom Kempf, Student Council Advisor in an email Sunday night.

Students are encouraged to participate in the school-wide spirit days set by Student Council and approved by the Huntley High School Administration in an effort to promote school unity.

“The beginning of the week is about school unity and I think we should embrace that concept, we have the opportunity to represent our class pride at various other times of the year as well as the pep assembly on Friday,” said Aesha Talia, Student Council President. “The school officials are being serious about this.”

Seniors like Lindsey Loncsar expressed their disappointment in the news

“I think senior should be able to dress up,” said Loncsar. “We are just showing the underclassmen that you can still be united as one by doing things differently.”

Regardless of what the seniors believe or the rumors spread, Kempf encourages students not to do the wrong thing.

“They can try it but if they get caught I won’t [let] them in the dance,” said Kempf.
