District 158 held its regular Committee of the Whole meeting this past Thursday, covering a wide range of financial, curriculum, and construction topics.

District 158 is pushing forward with ideas for expansions on the German and dual-credit speech-language courses.

Fully signing these classes on have proven difficult, given the expertise needed to properly teach the respective languages. Dance is also considered being given as an option to incoming Freshmen.

The district’s current relationship with Anderson Pest Solutions is still holding ground, and both entities are working to fully eliminate vermin and other unwanted animals from the school landscapes. For the sake of students’ health, pesticides will not be used.

Finally, a lengthy presentation unveiling new details on the Chesak-Martin-ECC asphalt revitalization marked the highlight of the meeting.

The final design aims to achieve in reducing conflicts between drop-off parents, buses, and staff, cutting down the stuffiness of morning time traffic significantly.

Officials hope to secure the project before the ground thaws after this upcoming winter season.
