New Season, New Faces, New Opportunities

Coming off of an 8-12 season, 4-6 in conference, the Red Raiders look to fight for playoff contention with their young squad.

“We have a young group overall this year but I like the chemistry we showed over the summer,” coach Benson said.

The Red Raiders will face Jacobs, one of the tougher teams for the Raiders, for their second game this year.

Jacobs finished last season with a 23-7 record making it to the IHSA Class 4A Sectional Semifinal at RVC.

Due to Huntley’s absence in the playoffs last season, they will definitely want to make a statement early against their crosstown rivals.

Benson believes that his team will improve every day as they work harder in each and every practice.

Of the first four regular season games, Huntley is hosting three of them. This will allow for great momentum coming from our home fans.

The Red Raiders will compete in three tournaments this season. The Thanksgiving, the Chuck Dayton Classic, and the WWS MLK Tournament.

“I think we are going to have a good year with a mix of newcomers and returning players,” senior Michael Parks said.

New faces joining an already built team may seem like a challenge to some people. However, coach Benson and his players are looking at it as a great addition to the squad, with hopes of playoff contention.

“To be successful in the playoffs we need to play hard every second of each game and play as a team,” Parks said.
