Read for a Lifetime Achievement Award winners announced

Freshman Emily Benz, freshman Linda Kay Haddad, and sophomore Olivia Krewer are the only students from Huntley High School to win the Read for a Lifetime Achievement Award issued by Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White this year.

LRC celebrates National Library Week

The LRC is decked out with activities and prizes for National Library Week (April 9 – 13). Not all of district 158 celebrates libraries this week, but HHS’s LRC media specialist, Sandy Brooks, has always enjoyed doing something special.

New technology coming into the LRC

Sandy Brooks, Huntley High School LRC media specialist, received 10 free Samsung tablets for piloting the new Follett app in January. The app is set to be finished and released to the public by the end of March.

Eikre’s cousin Brooks was diagnosed with cancer when he was 16. It started in his leg, and slowly moved throughout his body. The doctors tried everything to beat it, but once one step was taken another sign showed. They amputated his leg, but by then the abnormal cells had moved elsewhere, each time the cancer became more serious. Throughout everything, Brooks never gave up.
