When I found out a few years ago that director Peter Jackson would be transforming one of my favorite novels, “The Hobbit” by J. R. R. Tolkien, into a film, I was overjoyed. When I found out he was going to stretch that novel into three separate films, I was worried. Now, after watching “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” I’m impressed.
On Friday Dec. 6, Marlowe Middle School was transformed to a Christmas wonderland. White lights and snowflakes hung beautifully across the ceiling of the cafeteria with a fake fireplace, and a red velvet chair sat at the end of the room.
With the new season just beginning, Huntley kicked off the year with high hopes because they had many returning varsity players. On Nov. 30 the varsity boys basketball played in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament on a Saturday afternoon at Crystal Lake Central.
The boys basketball team took on Belvidere North. After winning against Belvidere North 65-46 last year, Huntley had the opportunity to show how much they had improved since then. Huntley won the game with a score of 84-65.

Airing across the globe on Nov. 23, at 1:50 p.m. CST., the world went silent in anticipation. Whovians around the world waited in awe of what could be the most epic moment in television history.
As the gym fills with noise, an almost eerie vibe settles into the air. Fog covers one of the entrances, blocking all sight from the eyes of eager viewers. Swiv’s voice booms over the speaker, drowning out the noise of the crowd.
Today, Huntley High School’s National Honor Society welcomed its newest 82 members in a candlelight induction ceremony that focused on the four pillars of NHS leadership.
On Oct. 29, the freshmen, sophomores, and juniors will take preparatory tests, the Explore, Plan, and PACT respectively, to get a prediction of what they could receive on the highly anticipated ACT.
