December 15, 2014
[S]ong “Dominick the Donkey” by Ray Allen, Sam Saltzberg and Wandra Merrell, was released in 1960. It is an Italian song about a donkey who helps Santa bring toys to all the Italian children. The song reached number 14 on Billboard's Bubbling under the Hot 100 in December of 1960. It is a hilarious song with a very catchy song that will have you whistling the tune all day long.

Movie Review: Top Five

By Joe Rizzo
December 14, 2014
Some movies bring you joy, some movies scare you, while others make you laugh. Top Five is a romantic comedy starring Chris Rock who also wrote and directed this movie. Rock plays Andre Allen a recovering alcoholic who was once an extremely successful comedian and is now trying to play a serious role in his new movie “Uprize”. Rock’s movie “Uprize” was a flop and everyone wanted him to do more comedy. He reveals to a New York Times Critic, Chelsea Brown, that he is afraid that he cannot be funny unless he is drunk or high. To save his career he is marrying a successful reality TV star, Erica Long, for all the wrong reasons.

Song of the Week: Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24

By Courtney Thomas
December 9, 2014
The song “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24,” by Trans Siberian Orchestra was released in 1996. It is an instrumental mash-up of “Carol of the Bells” and “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and is the single greatest jam-out Christmas song out there. It is the rock and roll version of two very low key songs and always makes me want to head bang. The song depicts a lonely cello player in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War, playing a forgotten Christmas carol. The song charted at number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The song is highly popular at houses such as the one in the video.

What To Watch: “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”

By Tyler Lopez
December 7, 2014
Tis the season for spending time with family, caroling, gift-giving and putting up massive amounts of Christmas lights on top of your house and making it look a multicolored light bulb. Yet again, your father is not Clark Griswold. The Griswolds are back. Christmas is only a few weeks away and quirky father, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase), thinks it is high time he and his family got into the holiday spirit. What could go wrong? The first step into Clark’s plan is to get a Christmas tree, so he gathers wife Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), son Russ (Johnny Galecki), and daughter Audrey (Juliette Lewis) to do so. Piled into their Ford Taurus, the family heads out to the country to find the perfect tree. After finding a tree, Clark realizes he had forgotten to bring an ax or saw. This entails the entire family effort to pull the tree out of the snow covered (and frozen ground). Great start to the holiday season.
Movie Review: Elf

Movie Review: Elf

By Haylie Larson
December 7, 2014
The month of December brings out classic traditions. For many, the movie Elf is part of that those traditions. Children friendly, Elf is the perfect December movie for any cozy, stay in night. Will Ferrell as Buddy, the main character, has the whole family giggling with enjoyment. The film is 11 years old and the Christmas comedy is still going strong. If you think you’ve seen one Christmas movies and you’ve seen them all, Elf proves you wrong. Not only does it involve some animation, but but a very special appearance by Peter Dinklage, or better known as the ‘angry elf.’

Movie Review: Penguins of Madagascar

By Trisha Fritz
December 3, 2014
[T]he story places us directly after the events of Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted with our four favorite penguins: Skipper (Tom McGrath), Kowalski (Chris Miller), Rico (Conrad Vernon) and Private (Christopher Knights). From here, they depart from the circus and send themselves on a mission to celebrate Private’s birthday and buying Cheesy Dibbles, a discontinued product, from Fort Knox. However, Private begins to feel unimportant to the team. The real visual variety picks up when the penguins are suddenly kidnapped and brought to Venice where we meet Dave (John Malkovich), an octopus who disguises himself as Dr. Octavius Brine, a human alias. Dave was once an adored octopus at Central Park Zoo that soon turned sour after being booted from his popularity levels once the penguins arrived.

Song of the Week: Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree

By Courtney Thomas
December 1, 2014
In December of 1958, Brenda Lee, who was 13 years old at the time, released “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Over 30 people have recorded covers of her song and the song had its peak in December of 1965 when it reached number three on the Billboard’s Christmas Singles chart. This song is my favorite Christmas song and always puts me in the best of moods. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” was featured in the 1990 movie, Home Alone, when Kevin blares the music, pretending there is a Christmas party at his house. Christmas is 23 short days away!

Taco Bell Restaurant Review

By Mawa Iqbal
December 1, 2014
[I]t was 8:30 p.m on a monday night, and my parents were running a little late from work. My brother and I were hungry and were willing to eat anything they brought home for us. We were happy and relieved when we saw them come home with takeout boxes. At the time, we did not care where the food was coming from...until we looked inside the boxes. My family is strictly vegetarian so going out to eat could sometimes be a bit challenging for us. We need to make sure to order menu items with no meat, and then double check once we get our meals.
