As astronaut Mark Watney just woke up from being knocked out from a satellite dish, he needed to find out what to do to survive by himself at the planet Mars since he was stranded because his crew could not find him and also what to do with a satellite cable that is lodged in his stomach region.

“The Martian” is a story about astronaut Mark Watney, who was stranded on Mars for two years and had to survive by creating a mini farm system in his base, and also finding ways to communicate with NASA for a rescue plan.

The beginning of the movie was good, but could have been better by showing how they got there, why they were on the planet, and what they did on their first days there.

But as the movie was began to go into the heart of the story, the storyline was great. It seemed like I was watching a live event, with the movie not just focusing on Watney, but on the NASA leaders, the press, and so on.

The best part about the movie was the logs that Watney would do, as it feels like the people watching are with him in his experience.

The way actor Matt Damon portrayed Mark Watney was great, by him being a dynamic character. He showed his adventurous side, as well as his comedic side and his emotional side.

The other characters were also outstanding, such as the head of NASA, played by Jeff Daniels, to the crew of Ares III, who were played by Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, and Aksel Hennie.

Jeff Daniels was excellent as playing the head of NASA, because he played him like what any head of a corporation would do. They would care what was best for the business, which is what Daniels portrayed.

The crew also played a great part, with them showing their care for Watney and doing anything to get their crew member back.

But the person to give the most credit to is the director, Ridley Scott. Scott is coming off some disappointing movies, like Exodus: Gods and Kings, and The Counselors. But with this movie, no one will remember about his recent movies.

He directed this beautifully, by picking the right actors and actresses, the script, what places they filmed, and also the graphics were amazing. This movie will put the science fiction genre in a whole new category.

This is a great movie to watch with your family, and I rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars, and I highly recommend watching the movie.
