Varsity Red Raiders lacrosse played Immaculate Conception this past friday, and from the minute both teams walked onto the field you could tell it was going to be a good game. The excitement and pure energy was felt all the way up in the bleachers.
Friday’s game was also senior night. Huntley’s varsity team has seven seniors, Brendan Boesch, Cameron Ryan, Conner Young, Callaghan Quinn, William Black, Angelo Amelio, Trey Seitz, and Chuck Addis. The boys’ parents each gave them flowers and were recognized in front of the whole crowd. Addis is a four year varsity player and the captain of the team.
Quickly out of the gates Immaculate Conception scored the games first point. But Huntley quickly returned with two more. Showing that they were not going to lose easy.
Junior Collin Fischer was on fire, completing a hat trick (three goals) before the half was over. I overheard someone say that the announcer for the game was Fischer’s dad, which made sense because every time Fischer scored you would hear something along the lines of “OOOOHHHH THAT ONE WAS A LASERBEAM!” Collin’s scoring streak opened up some comfort room for Huntley.
Going into the second half Huntley was winning and it was obvious that they had a leg up on Immaculate Conception. Immaculate conception had a good offense and could drive the ball to the net, but when it came to stopping monsters like Fischer, Addis, and James Hubert they were no match. You can tell that the team is in sync with each other and know how to read each others moves.
Fischer scored a total of four points in this game, also players Addis and Boesch played a large role in the win.
