CD Review: Pink Floyd- The Endless River

By Trisha Fritz
November 13, 2014
[F]or those who do not know, Pink Floyd, which consists of Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Syd Barrett, Richard Wright and Nick Mason, is a rock band that formed in London and achieved their fame through its psychedelic music in 1973. 20 years later, several years after the death of the keyboardist-Richard Wright, Pink Floyd has melded together 20 hours of unused sessions from the development of their 1994 record, The Division Bell. Pink Floyd has toyed with the idea of releasing the album before into a double album, one disk of more traditional songs and the other with a more instrumental side, but the idea was quickly outed.

Brunch Cafe Restaurant Review

By Mawa Iqbal
November 13, 2014
[A] small table with three plates displaying the day’s specialties was the very first thing I noticed when I walked into this newly opened restaurant, located on Route 47. But what really caught my attention was the unique name of these specialties: Crab Bennies, Parfait Crepes, and the Classic Blueberry French Toast.

Song of The Week: “Sweater Weather”

By Courtney Thomas
November 12, 2014
The song “Sweater Weather” seems very appropriate considering the weather lately. The song was released Dec. 3, 2012, close to two years ago by indie rock band called The Neighbourhood. The song reached number one on the alternative songs chart last June and was number one for 11 non-consecutive weeks. The song reminds me of the winter because of sweaters, but at the same time, it makes me think of summer because they refer to high-waisted shorts. Sweater Weather makes me want to sit in front of the fireplace with my hot chocolate and slippers, in the middle of summer, and I love it. I think you will too.

South Park season 18 episode 5 review

By Rachel Brands
October 31, 2014
South Park hits its midseason mark in season eighteen with “The Magic Bush.” The episode begins with Cartman gleefully finding out that Butters’ dad owns a drone. Cartman is thrilled and immediately begins plotting to use it to spy on people in the town. Cartman sneaks the drone to his house and then Butters meets him (and Kenny) at Cartman’s house so the boys can play with it. Everything starts okay until Cartman stumbles upon Craig’s mom getting dressed. Being boys, they stick around to get a closer look and have a good laugh over her ‘bush.’

Song of the Week: “Unwritten”

By Courtney Thomas
October 27, 2014
“Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield had its 10 year anniversary Sept. 6 this year. I have been hearing it on the radio a lot lately and it is just a fun song. I can not help but belt it every time it comes on on the radio. “Unwritten” talks about how you are the only one who can change your life and you have got to get up and do it whether you succeed or fail. It is a song everyone can relate to in the sense that all you know is now and “the rest is still unwritten.”

Song of the Week: Chandelier

By Courtney Thomas
October 21, 2014
“Chandelier” by Sia has become a little old and overplayed. Personally, I love the song, but that is not why I chose it. The music video is one of the weirdest videos I have ever seen (I have not seen that many, but I have seen enough). The music video features one of the girls from Dance Moms, interpretive dancing the whole time. She almost looks possessed to the point where it is almost disturbing. Chandelier was released March 17, 2014 on Sia’s sixth album, 1000 Forms of Fear. The music video follows the theme of fear perfectly, along with the song.

COW meeting

By Devin Martin
October 9, 2014
[Y]ears ago, Huntley High School moved its graduation ceremony to the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates. In 2015, however, that may change. At Thursday’s Committee of the Whole meeting, board members expressed concern over the graduation ceremony at the Sears Centre Arena. Dr. Burkey presented for approval of the 2015 graduation date for the Sears Centre Arena. Soon this would lead to debate with the board members to discuss other locations that would be cheaper, and more affordable. The main factor to pull from the Sears Centre Arena is the cost which is $30 thousand. Seniors graduate from Huntley High School at around May 30. The Graduation continues to be at Sears Centre Arena. But with this cost, it may be the end for the Sears Centre Arena. The board members presented a location not too far away.

When Rachel’s Challenge is mentioned, many people think of things like kindness towards others, treating others as you would like to be treated, and many other moral lessons. These lessons are pounded into the heads of students across the country to create a kinder, more considerate generation.
