Huntley choir prepares for IHSA Solo & Ensemble competition

Tonight from 6:00 to just after 9:00, Huntley’s choir performed their Third Quarter Solo/Ensemble Concert, which featured multiple genres of music ranging from classic Italian pieces to modern Broadway ballads. In total, 49 songs were performed.

Boys basketball tops South on Senior Night

Huntley High School’s boys basketball team’s final game of the season was on Tuesday, Feb. 24 on the home court. The seniors finished strong, winning 55-28 over Crystal Lake South. Nine players on the 2013-2014 varsity basketball team are seniors and this was their last regular season game.

Egekeze leads Raiders to fourth straight FVC title

Going into Friday night’s rivalry game at Jacobs, the Huntley boys basketball team had a one game lead on Jacobs in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division with two games left to play. Led by Senior Amanze Egekeze’s 24 points, Huntley became conference champion for the fourth straight year, with a 39-35 win against Jacobs.

Huntley’s varsity boys basketball team entered Friday night’s game against arch rival Jacobs undefeated and first in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. With a win the visiting Jacobs team would take hold of first place in the conference. Huntley would not let that happen. Huntley defeated Jacobs 48-45 in a thriller at Huntley High School. The Raiders improved to 12-4 overall, and 5-0 in FVC Valley division.

Huntley dominates Cary Grove in division opener

During the third quarter the Red Raiders already had a commanding lead. Senior Amanze Egekeze caught a pass in transition after a Huntley steal, took a few dribbles, and threw down a dunk. The already rowdy crowd exploded as the Huntley bench stood up in excitement. This was the highlight of an incredible night for 6-foot-8 Belmont recruit Amanze Egekeze.

After starting off the season undefeated, Huntley had a Thanksgiving Tournament at the high school over break. The championship game was the night before the holiday and Huntley had high hopes of keeping their record perfect.

With the new season just beginning, Huntley kicked off the year with high hopes because they had many returning varsity players. On Nov. 30 the varsity boys basketball played in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament on a Saturday afternoon at Crystal Lake Central. The boys basketball team took on Belvidere North. After winning against Belvidere North 65-46 last year, Huntley had the opportunity to show how much they had improved since then. Huntley won the game with a score of 84-65.

The runners wait in deep anticipation for the referee to raise the red flag and fire the gun.. Nobody dares to make a sound. Then suddenly the first shot is fired. The race has officially begun. On Oct. 18, Huntley’s varsity cross country team attended the FVC conference meet at Emricson Park in Woodstock.
