During third hour at Huntley High School, students successfully completed their first fire drill of the 2015-2016 school year.
However, administration says the drill could have gone better.
“I think there was not enough urgency of people getting out of the building,” said Tom Kempf, dean of students.
Additionally, the school’s administration plans to rework the evacuation plans feeding onto the soccer field adjacent to Leggee Elementary, mostly due to overall disorganization.
The school and Huntley Fire Department are working cooperatively to address more efficient evacuation procedures.
“A lot of what we do is developed with them,” said Kempf.
The next fire drill is scheduled for the end of October.
