Alex: Team Target

All right friends.  It’s time for the age old question.  Emma and I decided to put the food aside and battle out something near and dear to both of our hearts.  Walmart vs. Target.  Which is better?

We decided to spend our Sundays at both super stores, which I what I probably would have ended up doing anyways.

Not to anybody’s surprise, Target still holds the place in my heart.  I could spend all day, every day at Target and have a different experience every time.  It’s the one place that I can go planning to spend $10 but leave two hours later $100 in the hole.  Isn’t that everyone though?  Nevertheless, I heart Target.

For some reason, Target feels more homey to me.  Maybe it’s the color palette, the carpet, or the warm and cozy feeling I have knowing there’s a Starbucks in the store.

I don’t know about you, but Target is the first place that I will be heading this Black Friday.  Like most stores, they have amazing deals, plus Starbucks is a deal-breaker.  Nothing is better than a Peppermint Hot Chocolate at midnight in a crowd full of mid-age women fighting over a $5 bath mat.  Plus the occasional teenager looking to score a deal on the newest Apple product.  That teenager being me of course.

I have very vivid memories of my mom promising a Slurpee if I was good at the store, and that is something no other supermarket can offer.

Target not only has low prices, but I feel like it has better quality items than Walmart.  Yes, Walmart is cheaper, but Target’s products definitely ask longer, which I feel is more important.

Target is the perfect combination of inexpensive items, if you are a broke teenager looking to buy gifts for friends.  But it also appeals to the parents who are looking to purchase iPads for their second graders.  

The check out lines are always speedy, whereas Walmart has about four lines open with 20+ people in each line.  I don’t know about you, but I certainly don’t have time for that.

I recently went to Mizzou for a college visit and on my campus tour, I learned that all freshmen get on a bus and go on a midnight Target run.  Guys, I think that solidified my college decision.  Forget the education.  Midnight Target run?  I’m in.

I don’t think that I have to do much convincing, but next time you need to buy anything (and I mean anything), go to Target.  Spend a few hours, hundreds of dollars, and buy yourself a Starbucks.  

In my book, it’s a day well spent.

Emma: Team Walmart

This month Alex and I are searching for the best place for holiday shopping. Since Thanksgiving is nearly here, and Christmas is just around the corner, we have decided to put the favorite super grocery stores to the test.

I am arguing for the side of Walmart due to it’s convenience and low prices. There are Walmarts everywhere and whether you are just stopping in for one or two things, or doing your weekly shopping, it will not be hard to find what you need.

Walmart is a huge multi- billion dollar company and they provide locals with name brand and generic options of almost everything you need, from toothpaste to turkey.

To continue, Walmart is NOT behind when it comes to the holidays. With Thanksgiving coming up, you can get everything you need for your family dinner in one trip.

They offer options as well, from premade mashed potatoes to the dishes freshest ingredients.

Looking past Thanksgiving, Walmart is the perfect place to get your friends and family gifts.

In my opinion, Christmas shopping can get expensive, especially if you are buying for a lot of friends.

At Walmart, I can get all my friends a gift for less than $15. Picking out a gift becomes fun and super easy.

I can pick out a cute little basket ($2) and fill it with a couple boxes of candy (less than a dollar), nail polish ($2-$3), fuzzy socks ($1), and some cute pens and a notebook ($5) and there you go I have a gift for my sister for less than $15, and I only had to go to one place.

Overall, if you are looking for a convenient holiday season where you can get everything you need in one place, and for a bargain I recommend Walmart.
