The girls track team held their indoor conference meet on Tuesday March 6. The girls team ended their indoor season on a high note with their first indoor win at home this year.
The Red Raiders had strong performances in all running and field events. The Red Raiders came to compete in the relays as all three relays took home first, including beating Cary Grove by only .74 seconds in the 4×200 relay.
Individual efforts were also very impressive by the Red Raiders, Mary Raclawski took home an individual win in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.
“We’ve been working super hard and our team has really grown from our first meets” Raclawski said. “I’m really proud about how my teammates and I ran and It’s a good way to end our season.”
In the sprinting events the Red Raiders also had impressive individual performances by Sabrina Krog in the 200 meter dash, and freshman Jenna Belanox in the 400 meter dash, both of whom finished second in their respective events.
But the most impressive performances for the Red Raiders came in the 60 meter hurdles. Daryn Davis and Tyra Miller took first and with times of 9.43 and 9.54 seconds.
Field events also had a really good day In the pole vault Rhian Whitfield had an impressive vault of 9 feet 6 inches to take the win. Also McKenzie Krich and Chloe Smith both cleared 5 feet in the high jump and sophomores Kendal Only and Daryn Davis finished second and third in the triple jump.
Lastly, the throwing events capped off a great day for the Red Raiders. Cameryn Piskule and Olivia Fondjo finished third and fourth in a tough shot put field.
“It was a tough meet but it feels great winning first place this meet and I know this team has a lot more to come for outdoor season” Fondjo said.
The Red Raiders close out their indoor season on Tuesday March 13 at the Sycamore invite.
