Lauren Teeter has been an educator for 14 years. With the last 11 at HHS, she teaches regular and blended English III and instructs Harmony Yearbook and TV Production. Known for her enthusiasm for building long-term relationships with students, she especially values seeing them grow over multiple classes and years.
“My favorite part of teaching is getting to build relationships across multiple years because teaching an elective allows me to work with students from freshman year all the way through senior year,” Teeter said.
A cat lover, Lauren has two tuxedo cats named Giacomo and Aiko. She recently welcomed a baby, and she is keeping up her reading habits by shifting to audiobooks. Teeter also enjoys Taylor Swift, watching her live streams and speculating about the singer’s high-profile relationships. Her favorite show is “Only Murders in the Building.”
She has created a cozy classroom with comfortable couches and soft lighting, making her room welcoming and relaxing. Her students appreciate this effort as it creates a space where they feel comfortable and at home. Senior William Mize, one of her students, even spends his free periods in her room because he feels so at ease there.
“She’s just so easy to talk to, and she has such a personality that you can get along with her,” Mize said.
Juniors Kaylee Colem and Addison Stone say how they enjoy the way Teeter gives students the freedom to focus on what they care about, making learning more personal and exciting. Stone says that these classes are the highlights of her day, as Teeter’s positive energy makes learning enjoyable and starts and ends her day on a high note.
“She makes her classes fit for the students in it,” Colem said.
“I have first period TV production with her, and then I have eighth period yearbook and it’s my favorite. It starts my day off good, and ends my day off good,” Stone said.
A firm believer in radiating positivity, Teeter values embracing the beauty of life and encourages others to appreciate small wonders, like the moon, as reminders of the world’s beauty.
