A small plane crashed outside of the Lake in the Hills airport in Crystal Lake. Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory said there were two dead. The crash happened at approximately 3:16pm at the intersection of Pyott and Virginia roads, possibly in gravel pit of the LITH Airport. FAA is still gathering information about the departure point and intended destination point. Investigations typically take several months to a year or more with the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board.
