Katie Poe, a freshman from Cumberland, won the Queen of the Hill 3-Point Showdown Final in between 3A games on Saturday afternoon.
Poe, the 2A champion, sank eight 3s to oust Liberty Academy’s Jessica Moriarty (1A, six shots made), Timothy Christian’s Brittany Scheidt (3A, four), and Bolingbrook’s Kamari Jordan (4A, seven).
After each participant competed, she was given an opportunity to shoot the Country Financial Bonus Ball behind the 3-point arc. Poe, Moriarty, and Scheidt all hit the bonus shot, each giving their schools a $500 donation from Country Financial.
Poe became the second straight 2A player and third in four years to win the contest.
