Huntley High School Boys Golf had an excellent weekend. The boys varsity golf team attended the Crystal Lake South Invitational at Red Tail Golf Course on Saturday.
The boys were led by the team of junior Ryan Craig, senior Mason Wicks and the team of freshmen Trent Craig and Tyler Ross. Both teams shot a score of 71, which is one over par. Junior AJ Fanselow and sophomore Gage Jereb followed close behind shooting just two over par with a score of 74.
Overall, the team finished in third place with a collective score of 216 following Cary Grove High School’s team which finished first with an overall score of 211. Jacobs High School’s team took second with an overall score of 212.
The freshman/sophomore boys team attended the Fox Valley Conference Tournament on Saturday.
Collectively the team took 340 strokes to finish in first place to win the Fox Valley Conference title. Sophomore Glenn Miller led the team and tournament with a score of 82. Sophomore Eric Luechent finished close behind a taking 82 strokes. Freshman Zach Saiz finished fifth with 85 strokes.
The varsity team will now focus its attention on their regional tournament on Tuesday where they hope to advance in the season playoffs.
