The Committee of the Whole discussed many things such as changes to the schedules, honor programs, and more.
The committee debated changing the schedule so that first semester final exams were before winter break, therefore forcing first semester to be shorter. However, no final conclusions were drawn because they pointed out how effective the review is the week student return from break.
The committee also discussed changes to the honor program for certain classes such as the higher level foreign languages. Spanish II 9 and Spanish III 10 are examples of elevated courses, but they do not count as honor credits.
However, the committee decided that it would be best if these classes were elevated to honor level. The foreign language classes along with Principals of Engineering will award honors credits next year.
The committee also discussed the effectiveness of the PARCC testing. They came to the conclusion that it was a great success and there were few problems with the program. It was considered a great experience for students and they look forward to doing the tests again in May.
