It was a frigid afternoon when the meet started. The stands were filled with the parents, of the athletes, wearing winter coats, hats and gloves. It was a different temperature than what Huntley had grown accustomed to over the past few weeks, but the track and field team were just as ready as ever to compete.
Huntley High School boys track team won the meet on April 20 against Jacobs and Burlington Central, 96-43-23.
Huntley High School placed first in 11 out of 15 events including all of the field events. Each first place won Huntley five points toward the 96 points the boys track team earned in the meet.
Senior Chase Burkhart, senior, won the shot put event, throwing 47 ft, 5 in.. Senior Issac Jimenez placed first in the discus with a mark of 158 ft.. The HHS 4×100 relay took first, running it in 45.4 seconds. The 100 meter dash was ran in 11.1 seconds by senior Conor Boos. The 4×200 relay team finished in 1 minute and 37 seconds. The 300 meter intermediate hurdler, Mitchell Los, sophomore, came in a close second, trailing a .2 seconds behind a hurdler from Jacobs. Rasheed Ahmad, freshman, finished the 1600 meter run in 5 minutes and 2 seconds.
