Friday night fun packs the student section with eager students dressed in their neon gear in celebration for senior night. The game starts off with each senior being introduced and escorted by their parents, and then shortly after the other team introduces its players. Huntley’s boys basketball team individually introduces each player in a stream of red and white lights surrounding them in the dark while students hold up their flashlights in support of the players.

The boys varsity basketball players then ran out onto the court in their red and white attire to get the crowd hyped up and with squeaks of sneakers on the gym floor. They began to warm up by hitting their three on the basketball court.

The triumphant game for boys varsity basketball ended with a final score of 62-30 on Feb. 11 against Crystal Lake Central.

“It was more of a team win for senior night and with all the support from our fans. It pushed us to win,” junior Noah Only said. “It was great having the seniors in the game and seeing them play their last home game for the team. It’s truly inspiring.”

Even through the beginning of the game, the Red Raiders started the first quarter off with a lead of 10-0 against the Tigers and kept the lead throughout all four quarters of the game.

“I feel we played very well as a team because we would constantly move the ball side to side, giving each player a chance with the ball. The outcome shows for itself that with the great team work it brought us the win.” junior Ty Goodrich said.

The crowd would roar every single time the ball went in the hoop or even close to the hoop. They would constantly cheer every senior’s name when they had the ball which made the game even more exciting because the gym was filled with school spirit.

“I thought they played really well offensively and they shared the ball early. I think that is what kept everyone in rhythm and then everyone started to shoot well which brought us today’s win,” Head Coach William Benson said. “Everyone played really hard and really well and it was fun to watch.”

Huntley was victorious against Crystal lake Central and their determination and fans gave the team motivation for the win in hopes for more victories to come throughout the season.
