Student Council is preparing for a variety of events, from the third annual Mr. HHS, to the Ace for Autism volleyball tournament, to the possible spring dance.
Brandon Bencko, president of Student Council, is in charge of organizing the Ace for Autism volleyball tournament.
The tournament is set to occur the April 12 through the 14. The tournament is a way to raise funds and awareness for Autism among the student body. Along with the tournament, fundraisers will be held to raise funds.
The Ace for Autism tournament is not only for the high school volleyball team but for the members of the Huntley community as well. Other teams across the Fox Valley Conference will also be invited to the event, and allowed to send their own representative teams to play alongside Huntley High School and the community in the tournament.
Rachel Bushnell, vice president of student council, is in charge of organizing the events for Mr. HHS.
This is the pageant’s third annual year for the upperclassmen of Huntley High School. Eight individuals, four juniors and four seniors, were chosen to compete in this year’s pageant.
The prizes consist of a free tuxedo rental, alongside free tickets to Prom for himself and his date. The pageant is set to occur on May 1in the PAC, tickets are $5 a piece and all proceeds are going to the Prom fund.
“The fund is dwindling away,” said Bushnell. “I want to ensure that everyone, who wants to, can attend prom.”
The pageant consists of six different sections: swimwear, group dance, formal wear, questionnaire, talent, and spirit wear. They are required to perform a talent, as well. Most consist of singing, playing guitar, a comedy sketch or even a dance.
This year’s spring dance, the Spring Fling, is to be held on Saturday, March 17.
The spring dance is usually an unsuccessful venture; however this year, student council would like to change that up. Student council is in works to get this years, Spring Fling dance to have higher attendance than before in past years.
They are working with the school to see if certain free tickets incentives can be given out to increase attendance rates.
Student Council finds the spring season to be the busiest time of year.
