It was a big day at the square in downtown Huntley. The sun was shining and it was a perfect 63-degree day to walk around the square. The stands were all set up with displayed items for the customers to see.
People were walking by with excitement as they observed and took in all the senses that the market had to offer: the aroma of people selling homemade food, and the sights of all of the little kids running around in their costumes. Some were dressed as little Barbies and superheroes, others as pumpkins and witches, but they were all excited and happy to be there.
At the Huntley Farmer’s Market, people can expect to see stands of fresh produce, baked goods, and homemade clothes. But on Oct. 12, 2024, Huntley held its annual Harvest Fest where kids could dress in costume and get candy from vendors.
Erica, a local and repeating customer at the market, loves the pretty flowers and she likes to come with her family.
¨We love supporting local businesses; as a family we always grab a coffee, walk around and enjoy the weather,¨ Erica said.
Jocelin Gonzalez, florist, and CEO of JG Floral Shop, loves planting flowers, gardening, making people things to enjoy, and seeing their reactions to her work.
¨I love decorating, and I like people’s reactions to it,¨ Gonzalez said.
She also talks about how generous people are here, and how they really appreciate the designs she makes for them.
Savannah Lincoln, co-owner of Lincoln House and Co. has a passion and love to sell, to have a place in downtown Huntley, and the ability to sell at the market too.
¨I love getting to sell here,” Lincoln said. “We had another business in town that wasn’t as central, so we didn’t get to really service the people of Huntley. So being in the center of everything and getting to know all of Huntley´s wonderful residents is really nice.¨
While having a stand in the market, the Lincoln House and Co. workers direct customers to try anything inside the store as well. The environment is normally cozy and reflects the fall weather outside with the big event going on outside.
