It was dark and the stadium lights were bright, as the audience listened to our seniors’ names being announced as they walked across the track. The game against Burlington Central High School was a tough game to beat. The ending score was 33-7, but that did not stop Huntley from making it to the playoffs.
“We have a winning record, which I am very proud of, sitting back as a manager,” said senior Zion Ubeda.
As we get ready to go into the next week of the football season, we will see improvement from everyone, so that we can see another home game.
“I’m hoping to God that our guys can rally, rebound, get ourselves refocused and as healthy and as good as we can to perform as well as we can,” coach Michael Naymola said.
Seeing the team perform as best they can and winning a game is amazing, but there are ups and downs that, although may not happen every game, they still do.
“We have been up, we have been down, and when we are up, we are really good when we are down,” Naymola said. “It is the inconsistent play that we saw tonight with the putting the ball on the ground, missing some reads.”
But no matter what happens on the field on Friday nights, Naymola is always proud of his team.
“I have never been disappointed in our team’s effort and the way they have conducted themselves in the games,” Naymola said. “even in the games we are losing.”
Going into the playoffs, the first game will be away at West Aurora High School. Hopefully we will make it to another round of the playoffs, but no matter what happens out there, we will have a great end to a great season.
