The Huntley Farmers Market, held on the second Tuesday of every month, was bustling with people this month.
With over 20 small businesses set up, the Village Hall was filled with people from Huntley and other towns.
During the winter months, vendors of crafts, spices, and animal shelters set up their tables inside the Village Hall. They fill their tables with a variety of different things they have hand made.
An eye-catching table with glass-blown dishes and pendants glimmer in the light.
This table is run by Bob Kapheim, a retired professor and artist. He specializes in the art of glass-blowing. Each little dish takes about nine pieces of glass to be fused together.
“Every thing here is handmade,” Kapheim said. “You find this stuff nowhere in the world but right here.”
With such a unique hobby, he is excited to share his creations with everyone in town.
Another vendor a few tables over is selling jewelry. Linda Johnson’s started making handmade jewelry as a teenager.
It all started when her mother died when she was a baby, and her father gave her her mother’s old jewelry. The style was outdated and too small, so she added crystals to the existing necklaces and turned them into bracelets. Soon after, her friends and family were asking her to do the same to their jewelry.
“I make several bracelets based on Huntley High School’s school colors,” Johnson said.
Another table was filled with handmade sweatshirts and crocheted animals. Made by Mary Smith’s business, DBM Designs.
“I like coming to the Huntley Farmers Markets to sell my items and support small businesses,” Smith said.
Her sweatshirts with positive quotes bring a smile to everyones faces. She makes them with a Cricut machine and irons on the design to the fabric.
The next farmer’s market is happening on Saturday, April 12. Come enjoy the many small businesses and fresh produce with the rest of the town.
