Welcome to Rate The Recipe! Where I rate recipes (usually for baking) that I found on social media, websites, or Food Network!
In this blog, I will be looking over and rating a recipe for cinnamon chai cupcakes. This recipe is found on TikTok by the user @noorbakesss. Her page has a lot of great-looking recipes on it, but this recipe really stood out. It was picked because it sounds delicious and is very fitting for the fall season.
Making the batter was easy, but some parts were a little complex. The recipe calls for making chai with milk and chai packets in a pot on the stovetop. Since I am not experienced in making tea, especially in a pot, this part was a little complicated, but I successfully made it without any slip-ups or mistakes.
The recipe calls for sour cream, which is something that I’ve never added to cupcake batter or even regular cake batter, so I was a little skeptical, but it came out great. It made the cupcake nice, fluffy, and light.
Something that I liked about this recipe was the seasoning. The seasoning consists of a spice mix specifically for chai, which was a mixture of ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and allspice. It called for the spice mix to be added to both the batter and the frosting, which made the entire cupcake super flavorful.
The frosting was a simple buttercream, but I made it even better by adding vanilla extract and vanilla paste. The vanilla extract adds a nice sweetness, complementing the powdered sugar, and the vanilla paste makes the frosting rich and thick. The combination of vanilla and the spice mix gave this frosting an extraordinary flavor.
My overall rating of this recipe is a solid 9.5/10. The process of making the batter was a little complicated, but it would be easier for someone who is experienced in making tea. The seasoning alone made the flavor unforgettable, the texture was amazing, and the frosting was the icing on the cake, figuratively and literally.
