At the end of school on Mondays and Wednesdays, students interested in joining the Trading Card Game Club, whether they like Pokémon or any trading card game, bring their trading cards from home, and play with their friends after school in the club.
In the Trading Card Game Club, they play trading card games such as Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, and Star Wars: Unlimited.
If students in the Trading Card Game Club don’t know how to play trading card games, they can learn the rules and deckbuilding from Luke Herrington, the club’s sponsor.
“The club started this year, first semester,” said Luke Herrington. “Talon is our president, and Mr. Sargent passed ownership to Mr. Herrington.”
Luke Herrington chose to sponsor the Trading Card Game Club because he had played trading card games for a long time as a hobby and thought it would be fun to share with students.
The club meetings are two hours, depending on the day. The goals of the Trading Card Game Club are just to have fun and meet new people who are interested in trading card games.
Talon Christenson started the Trading Card Game Club to teach other students how to play trading card games.
“As a friendly environment to teach people how to play, find others who play the games they do, and have fun,” said Talon Christenson, president of the Trading Card Game Club.
Christenson got interested in starting the Trading Card Game Club because he wanted to play Magic: The Gathering, the trading card game.
The Trading Card Game Club is a great way to make friends after school. Talon’s favorite thing to do in the Trading Card Game Club is playing Magic: The Gathering.
“Yes, we are very community-based, and it is a great way to make friends,” said Christenson. “Pretty self-explanatory, but I just like to play Magic.”
Maximilian Silkaitis likes to play his favorite games with his friends in the club since he can’t play outside of school.
“I just like being able to play a bunch of my favorite games with my good friends because I don’t get a lot of opportunities to play outside of school,” said Maximilian Silkaitis.
Club members enjoy this great opportunity to watch the community grow, game by game.
