Governor Pat Quinn (D-IL) made a stop by Huntley, Monday afternoon. Quinn came to help Village President and the Illinois Tollway kick off the RT. 47/I-90 full interchange which is expected to bring tremendous growth to the Village of Huntley and surrounding areas. Members from the state, county and local levels were represented.

“Energetic partnerships and projects such as this new green interchange are paving the way for growth,” Governor Quinn said. “At a time when other states are curbing transportation projects, Illinois is moving forward. This project will improve the quality of life for residents in Huntley, McHenry County and Kane County for years to come, and will do so while protecting the environment.”

Illinois Representative Mike Tryon gave his remarks at the event, he is especially thrilled about the fact the Illinois Tollway will be building the interchange as Illinois’ first green interchange.

“The construction of a full-access interchange at I-90 and Route 47 in Huntley is an issue I have been working on since I became a State Representative in 2004,” Tryon said. “Today is a great day for the Village of Huntley, and also for McHenry and Kane Counties.”

Quinn also recognized the soon-to-be Centegra Hospital – Huntley with Centegra’s CEO Mike Easley

“Between the Rt. 47 / I-90 project and the construction of Centegra Hospital–Huntley the timing could not be better,” said Easley.

Many believe this project will change The Village of Huntley with a major economic boom.

“With full access in both directions, Huntley is going to become a much sought-after location for businesses, restaurants and all kinds of economic activity,” said Tryon.
