Chicago fans felt lost last week as two of their star players went down with injuries. Both Derrick Rose and Patrick Kane sustained what could be season ending injuries.
For Bulls fans this is heartbreaking.Derrick Rose went down with yet another torn meniscus. Rose suffered the same injury last season and was just beginning to appear back in condition. Many Bulls fans have accepted the team playing without Rose, but clearly the Bulls are not the same team without him. Many teams can win without their star player, but no one can replace a superstar. When the Bulls need it most, who will take the game winning shot?
Rose is a leader on the team. It is clearly time for veterans to step up and take control. The big question many fans are asking is, can we build a franchise around a 26 year old who might never be the same as he was when we first got him? Do the Bulls need to start looking for a new franchise player?
On the other hand, the Blackhawks lost Patrick Kane to a fractured clavicle this week. This was a real scare for Chicago fans. Kane is a huge part of the Blackhawk’s success and is a scoring machine for the team. Kane had surgery Wednesday and doctors say Kane will be out for 12 weeks. This is a huge blow for the Blackhawks. Without Kane, Hossa and Sharp are going to have to step up to help make up for the missing Kane. It will take several players to replace this superstar.
When Kane returns he is still not going to be at 100 percent. He is going to have to get used to the ice again and recondition. This week has been a nightmare for Chicago sports fans. Dont worry it can only get better from here. Where are my lucky socks?? Chicago needs some good luck.
