The Walking Dead” starts with former sheriff Rick Grimes waking from a coma and finding himself in a zombie-infested world.
He hunts down his family and assumes the role as leader in the group they are in. Rick & Co. travel from their camp to Hershel’s farm to an abandoned prison to Terminus, forming bonds and suffering many casualties along the way.
The show is based on a comic book of the same name by Robert Kirkman. The show adapted its own version of the comic characters, such as Rick, Glenn, and Michonne, and added its own characters, like fan-favorite Daryl Dixon.
“The Walking Dead” has more to offer than awesome zombie kills and ruthless villains. The primary theme of the show is the importance of protecting those close to you and that no one can survive in the world alone, especially this one.
It is revealed that the title does not refer to the zombies, like most viewers originally thought, but to the survivors’ current state.
One of the best parts about the show is showing Rick’s transformation from the good guy cop to the ruthless leader who will do anything to protect his group, whom he now refers to as his family. Other characters have shown to adapt to this new world in amazing ways, such as Carol and Michonne, but Rick’s journey is the most highlighted because he is the main character.
The fifth season of AMC’s drama started this year and its large fan base will be pleased that the show seems to be sticking around for a while longer.
