The Huntley girls varsity girls soccer team beat Crystal Lake Central 4-0 last night, improving the Red Raiders record to 4-1-1.
This win for the Red Raiders comes after winning the Huntley Invite, in which they beat Hersey, Boylan, and Belvidere.
Huntley scored within the first 5 minutes with senior Alyssa Kaufman putting the ball in the net to make it 1-0. The first half ended with the score remaining 1-0, but the ball was mostly possessed by Huntley, and the Raiders were putting the pressure on Crystal Lake Central.
“We were able to control the ball most of the time during that half, but we just weren’t able to capitalize when we had our chances,” said junior defender Tayah Owens.
In the second half, Huntley was able to score 3 goals, with goals coming from Braidy Ceh, Taryn Jakubowski, and Brianna Wilder. Everything was going smoothly for Huntley that half too, with them controlling most of the possession.
“Overall, it was a great win for the team,” said head coach Kristopher Grabner. “We were able to overcome the bad weather and worked as a team to help each other on the field today.”
Huntley’s next game will be against Hampshire High School on Thursday.
