Food. Meat, vegetables, grains, fruit, and dairy. It is on everyone’s mind at least three times a day. For many it can be more. Food can make you feel happy and bring friends and family together. So when our country’s stay at home order was placed because of COVID-19, our whole country was in shock. It makes an easy afternoon grocery trip much more difficult.

Thankfully in these times of crisis, we have found new ways to shop for our food. Many businesses and apps have risen up to the challenge to adapt to this situation and provide food for millions of people.

Some popular apps include Instacart, Peapod, and AmazonFresh. Using these apps, you can order food from a variety of stores, and they will connect you with someone who will shop for these items for you.

When using Instacart, during the process where they shop for your food, if they cannot find something they can reach out to you and communicate with you via the app. This is a nice feature because then you can switch your items and even add them in the process.

Once the shopping is finished, your shoppers will drive the groceries to your house and place them at your doorstep. This is an extremely efficient way to shop for groceries without leaving your house and potentially endangering the lives of others.

Another feature that many enjoy on most of these apps is they can update their status, letting you know what they are doing at the moment. They could be getting the food, paying for it, or delivering to your house. This helps many gauge time for when food is arriving so they can plan meals around these deliveries.

If your preferred way to get a bite to eat is ordering from a restaurant, then apps like GrubHub, UberEats, and Doordash are for you. This is a great way to support your local restaurants!

Through these apps you order food from a restaurant’s website and then someone will pick up the food for you and deliver it to your door.

If the app does not have the restaurant you are looking for, you can always order directly from a restaurant’s website. Then they will tell you the food will be delivered by one of those apps.

Another method of shopping is through the Walmart grocery app. It is a very simple procedure that is helping many lighten their shopping weight.

You simply place your order online, pull up to Walmart where they have a specific spot for online orders, and pick up the food. Driving to get your groceries from Walmart can also help your mind get a break from being cooped up in the house 24/7.

When you receive any groceries, even though they are in bags, it is important that you wash your hands after putting the items in the fridge or elsewhere. This will prevent the spread of the disease if it were to have spread to the bagged groceries.

In these trying times it is crucial that people take advantage of apps like Instacart, Peapod, and AmazonFresh to shop for groceries online. Other apps such as Grubhub, Ubereats, and Doordash are excellent for delivering your latest cravings from your favorite restaurants. Even your local Walmart has adapted to this pandemic and provided a drive through pick-up for your food.

In these rough times where some people unfortunately cannot work, it would be thoughtful to also tip the shoppers and drivers more than you normally would. They are risking their lives to get you your food, so you should treat them with respect.
