On a sunny evening, the girls golf team went against Marian Central High School at the Pinecrest Golf Course in Huntley, Illinois.

So far this year, the team has been shooting under the 40s. During the game, the strong wind was a huge component of the match. Each player on the team has been improving. The players are definitely proud of themselves because they know they improved throughout the years they have played golf.

The team is getting ready for sectionals, which are starting on Sept. 30. Senior Abby Goraj has been on the golf team since her freshman year and has definitely improved in her opinion.

“As a freshman, I could never shoot low 40s, and actually last week I got a 39 and that is my personal best. I used to get 50s and 60s, and now I’m getting in the mid-40s and 40s,” Goraj said.

Sophomore Aubrey Dingbaum has improved as well. Additionally, the team has a really good connection and bond.

“I started around two years ago. I have grown a ton,” Dingbaum said. “Our team gets along really well. Our team cheers each other on, encourages each other on.”

Coach Ann Christiansen has been really proud of the girls and how prepared they are for sectionals. Christiansen is also glad that the team has been shooting really low scores throughout the season.

“We are fortunate this year because everyone has shot in the 40s and that is a really good spot to be in. The team did really well today, [and] each match this season they have improved,” Christiansen said. “They are really ready for sectionals. They are ready to go!”

“I am ready personally, just a little nervous,” Goraj said about the upcoming sectional matches.

Huntley beat Marian Central 181-205 and has been going strong so far this season. With great team chemistry and a lot of personal improvement, the golf team is ready.
