Advice for summer volunteering, and volunteering at non-for-profits
May 3, 2022
As the school year starts to come to an end, there are fewer opportunities to volunteer through the school, or even help at the school, but there are still a lot of ways to volunteer. Something that I have been doing for the past few years is volunteering at my church, especially during the holiday season.
At my church, I help to speak in front of the church, sing, and every once in a while, I will help the little kids at the preschool. Even though the volunteering is very sporadic, I know that it is always appreciated.
At any non-for-profit organization, it can be really hard to find help that will willingly give their time for free, but I know that every bit of help is needed no matter how big or small. I am most excited to help out this summer with a lot of the clean-up activities, not only because it is a big help, but also because I will be working with other people.
Working with others while volunteering is one of the best things I think anyone can do. I have volunteered only a handful of times by myself, and it has never been as fun as it is when working with others. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends who you would not have met otherwise.
You do not need to volunteer at a church, but I find that helping out at any sort of non-for-profit place is some of the best places to go. Also, the summer is such a great opportunity for volunteering because of how much free time many people have. During the summer there are a lot of different ways to volunteer because of the warm weather, so it is easy to help with environmental activities.
I challenge everyone to try to volunteer once a week over the summer, and it does not matter what you do, just try to make an impact.
