“Espresso” is available on all streaming platforms, such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify.

On Monday, April 8, fans across social media platforms were beyond excited when pop artist Sabrina Carpenter announced a new song that would be available to stream soon.

Carpenter and her recent album “emails i can’t send,” has gained immense popularity in the past two years, with fans enjoying popular tracks such as “Nonsense” and “Feather.” She also expanded her fan base as she performed with Taylor Swift in the Latin America, Australia, and Asia legs of the Eras Tour. She became well known on TikTok for her improvised vulgar “Nonsense” outros she would sing during her performances.

Fast forwarding from emails she could not send, Carpenter dropped her new hit single, “Espresso,” along with a music video. This was dropped on Thursday, April 11, just in time for her performance at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California this past weekend.

“Thinkin’ ‘bout me every night, oh is it that sweet? I guess so,” the catchy chorus rings through listeners’ ears.

“Espresso,” a synth-pop track, has a sweet and nostalgic type of beat as Carpenter sings how she keeps men up at night thinking about her, similar to how an espresso would.

In the rhythm and beat of the song, as well as in her music video, Carpenter drifts from her typical Y2K-inspired style and channels a retro and beachy theme. In the video, Carpenter and her friends are relaxing at the beach in ‘50s and ‘60s inspired outfits. Additionally, the girls have men at the beach who are at their beck and call.

“Oh, he looks so cute wrapped ‘round my finger,” she sings, full of confidence and self love.

Carpenter channels a carefree, relaxed vibe, while also establishing a sense of self-esteem and feminine empowerment. According to an interview she participated in with Vogue, Carpenter’s main inspiration and focus in the lyrics has been using femininity as a superpower.

“Espresso” has revived the pop music industry, as many artists have been releasing unoriginal music with monotonous rhythms or lyrics. Carpenter brings a new sound with “Espresso,” which marks the start of a new era for her.

Fans and music critics speculate that “Espresso” will be this summer’s top hit, especially since the synth-funk beats and beach-themed music video encapsulate the blissful feeling of summer.

Surely fans and listeners alike will be thinkin’ ‘bout Carpenter and the sweet feeling “Espresso” brings to their summer nights and adventures.
