Drinks, energy drinks specifically, are something that almost every person at Huntley High School buys. Whether it is a Bubbl’r, an Ice energy drink, or just a soda, most students can say that they love them and probably spend way too much money on them.
However, most students have one complaint about the drinks: the options. Most of the drinks that are sold in the cafeteria are all sugar free and diet versions. They taste so yucky and weird, and most people do not like diet sodas and drinks. Most people would rather enjoy the sugary taste of a Pepsi or Mountain Dew.
“I personally do not like the fact that there are only sugar free things, I get that some people want to be healthy, but I do not like the sugar free drinks,” sophomore Ashlyn Tenglin said.
Really, the only drinks that include sugar are the ones from the Raider Way Cafe that are made, like the coffee or matcha, or some of the juices, such as the orange juice and apple juice.
“That’s good [since] students already have enough caffeine in their day, but maybe it’s the fact that they need to pick better options,” physical education teacher Jamie Meindle said. “They could take a poll and see what kind of sugar free drinks students want.”
Tthere are some good sugar free drinks, but most of them just taste disgusting.
“Personally, I drink them all the time and I love them,” student teacher Brittany Tanski said.” It’s hard to get caffeine otherwise, and coffee can be gross unless you add all the sugary stuff into it to make it taste better.”
So, some people think it is good, but could find ways to improve for the better of the students. Ultimately, it is up to the student to decide whether or not the sugar free drinks are worth it.
