Once again, Huntley High School has had another successful homecoming week, with the help of Student Council. With hopes of even more success and involvement, Student Council members have made big plans for this year’s upcoming events.
They are steadily arranging social events, like fundraisers at Sonic, drive-in movie nights, plans for Prom, and many other events that are meant to bring the school together.
Student Body President Aesha Talia is faced with the challenge of making sure the year runs smoothly. She takes on this great responsibility with a wide smile and bubbly energy.
“Being Student Body President is very rewarding,” said Talia. “I love it!”
After the immense amount of spirit displayed during homecoming, Talia set her central focus on unifying the entire school. She is also working on unifying the student council itself in how they interact with one another and relay ideas. She strives to have the whole school involved in activities and events, as well as to promote school spirit in a more positive light.
“She [Talia] has some really great ideas,” said Vice President Allyson Pater.
Talia is hoping to be able to bring enthusiasm from homecoming and use it to get everyone excited for what is yet to come. Talia wants to make big improvements and changes, but still make sure that everyone in the council has an equal say in matters.
Pater is also hoping to get everyone, not just the council, able to participate in school activities. She was heavily involved in the planning of the homecoming dance and is extremely excited to also be involved in the planning of Prom. Both Pater and Talia want to make sure that all contributions will help this school year to be as successful as possible.
