ALGONQUIN, IL – District 158 Education Foundation president and scholarship committee chairperson Chad Alexander is pleased to announce Taylor Hilbrant, Ashley Knipp, Alexander Krum, Marek Makowski, and Jason Trovela as winners of the District 158 Education Foundation 2013 Scholarship award, and Jessica Marsh as the winner of the Fruin Farms Student Scholarship.

On behalf of the Education Foundation and the Fruin family, Alexander presented Foundation winners with a $1,000 scholarship certificate and a $500 scholarship certificate to the winner of the Fruin Farms Student Scholarship at the Huntley High School Senior Awards Night held on Wednesday, May 22.

Scholarship Committee members Chad Alexander, Rosemary Herringer, Rita McMahon, and Roger Schroepfer reported receiving 18 applications this year and interviewed 10 students before selecting the final 6 recipients.

“It was hard to decide who would move on for the interview process, but it basically boiled down to who followed the application directions and who presented themselves well on paper,” said committee member Roger Schroepfer.

Scholarship applicants are asked to respond to a series of questions such as: What is your intended course of study? How do you plan to finance your education? List high school and non-school activities or leadership roles in which you were involved and explain the impact this involvement has had on your life.

The Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who seek and make available resources to enhance learning for all District 158 students.
