Tonight the Board of Education took time to give out Teacher of the Month awards, and to honor teachers for their service, and commitment to education. Among those honored were HHS teachers Michael Slattery and Carol Sikora, being recognized for 25 years in the district, and retirement respectively.
During the public comment section of the meeting, a representative from the American Heart Association presented a plaque to the board recognizing district 158 elementary schools for raising money for Jump Rope for Heart, and ranking top five in donations out of all schools in the country.
Perhaps the most important part of this week’s meeting was the board’s approval to have two associate principals at HHS next year, one focusing on curriculum, and the other focusing on student services.
Lastly, the board noted that it has been made official that the new name for the district is Huntley Community School District 158. Being one of the last meetings of the school year, there obviously wasn’t very much on the agenda, and the board focused on closing out the year strong.
