Oh my goodness. This is the time of the year when the election starts to heat up. Primaries are coming to an end, voters had their voices heard at the polls, and the next President of the United States is just around the corner. Who will it be? It can either be Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, or John Kasich. Out of those candidates, people say what is on their mind about these politicians. They can range from being the truth or a lie. But at the end of the day, the group that captures politicians for what they might be known for is Political Cartoonists. Here are the top three political cartoons by Matt Wuerker.
1) Hillary’s Hot Sauces
This one is great! I think that this cartoon perfectly captures what Hillary Clinton might be known for by some voters. Clinton was accused of pandering to African-American voters as she went from location to location with a bottle of hot sauce in her purse. This leaves us with the Hillary’s Hot Sauces cartoon. It shows eight bottles of hot sauce that capture the down points in her career in the public eye. A couple of those are ‘Bubba’s Big Dog.’ That is referring to former President Bill Clinton, who was wrapped in the Lewinsky Scandal in 1998. Other bottles include ‘Super Pepper Pac’ (from Clinton’s Wall Street Donors) and even ‘Boom’ relating to Clinton’s emails. According to Clinton, she has always been a big fan of hot sauce and even during her time as First Lady in the White House, she had a collection of over 100 hot sauces. It just so happens that Clinton was carrying Ninja Squirrel Hot Sauce.
2. Where The Wild GOP Things Are
Let me just say that this political cartoon is perfection. I love it! I think that this cartoon captures perfectly what is happening in the GOP right now. Trump and Cruz are at a non-stop fight at this point in the primary to become the GOP nominee. At this rate, it looks like Trump will be the nominee. But that could all change. Cruz is apparently ‘TRUSTED.’ The cartoon above shows an interpretation of “Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak. As you can see, Trump and Cruz are sleeping on an island as Speaker of the House. Paul Ryan, drifts away from the island on a boat. You can also see their is a tiny elephant with a crown on that resembles the GOP, small and weak compared with the huge monsters of Cruz and Trump. In the cartoon, you get a sense that they are sadly the GOP’s last hope. Also according to the quote you can also learn that what the GOP is in now is not stopping anytime soon. It will be going all the way until November.
3) The Hair of The Donald
This last cartoon deals with Trump and his wild hair. People can say what they want about Trump, but he never seems to care. It seems that the only thing that he cares about is his hair. It is the perfect comb over! Not only that, but in the cartoon you can really see the progress that is needed for Trump to have his perfect hair. Too bad he can’t fix his personality though. Am I right?
Well, those are the top three political cartoons for the month. I hope you enjoyed them. There are many more out there in the world. But let’s not forget about the awesome cartoonists that bring them to life. One in particular is Matthew Wuerker.
