The Bermuda Triangle has been one of the biggest mysteries of the world that still hasn’t been solved even until today. Situated in the western region of the North Atlantic Ocean, near the coasts of Puerto Rico and Miami, the triangle has been the site of the disappearances of several airplanes and ships. This has caused theorists all over the world to question what really goes on in this mysterious place.

The existence of the triangle has long been known and researched about. Scholars believe that Christopher Columbus encountered the triangle on his voyage to the United States. It has been said that he experienced a period on his voyage in which his compass readings were bizarre and abnormal. Also, it is believed that William Shakespeare’s, “The Tempest,” could be based on the triangle.

Accounts of the triangle by the U.S. The Navy started to become numerous in the mid 19th century to the 20th century. Airplanes have been said to completely vanish without any trace or remains left behind. Navy ships would be reported that their compasses and radars would malfunction and cause them to become lost and disappear, never to be found.

One of the most popular accounts was the records of the mission, Flight 19, in which several navy bombers left Fort Lauderdale, Florida to practice their bombing runs. The leader of the ship reported that their compass became erratic and they eventually became lost. Running out of fuel, they were forced to leave back for base, but the crew and ships were never found after a long search.

A common explanation for the phenomenon could be the environmental occurrences that have caused ships and aircrafts to disappear. It is said that plenty of storms and hurricanes pass through the triangle, which may have possibly swept away ships or caused airplanes to crash. Also, watersprouts, or water tornados, have been said to occur in this area as well. Also, some believe that electromagnetic forces of the earth play a role as a cause of the malfunctioning of compasses.

Other, outlandish theories also exist. Some theorists believe that aliens could possibly be a cause of the disappearances. Aircrafts or ships could have been affected by alien technology that has caused compasses to malfunction. Theorists also theorize that a wormhole, or a space-time shortcut, may be the cause of disappearances.

While there are many theories and explanations that have attempted to explain the science behind the bermuda triangle, the truth of the phenomenon is still unknown. It remains a huge mystery to this day.
