Junior Bryce Only made a layup with three seconds on Saturday night, and Huntley clinched both a 41-40 victory against division rival Dundee-Crown, and a second consecutive Fox Valley Conference championship.

After being defeated by the Red Raiders (21-2 overall, 11-0 FVC Valley) two weeks ago, the Chargers (15-7, 9-2) had revenge on their minds.
Dundee-Crown got off to a great start, holding Huntley to no offensive rebounds in the first half while outscoring the Raiders, 24-14.
Huntley came out with a sense of urgency following the half, however, and questionable calls by the officials coupled with strong rebounding helped the Raiders narrow the Crown lead to 31-27 by the end of the third quarter.
Huntley took its first lead of the game with 0:57 left in the fourth quarter, behind a three-pointer from senior Troy Miller, jumping ahead 39-38. The Chargers then struck back, making a free throw to lead 40-39 with less than twenty seconds remaining.
After regaining control of the ball with less than ten seconds left, Only sprinted down the court, driving to the basket and blindly putting up his throw.
“I didn’t think it went in,” said Only. “[Head coach Marty Manning] told me that if we got the ball back, we were going to have to go down court fast.”
When the ball fell, Crown attempted a desperation shot but it bounced off the rim, sending the Huntley student section into a frenzy and the team onto its second conference championship.
“We finally got our offensive rebounding in the second half.” said Marty Manning. “This feels good, this was a good win.”
