While dance is not for everyone there are some important elements to remember when participating in dance. Dancers are very strong and have to be thinking about multiple things at once. When performing, it can be hard to remember these elements so having good muscle memory is very important. Other important elements include coordination and control.

Having a good muscle memory can lead to dancers performing better because they are thinking about many different things at once. While in classes, dancers are thinking about corrections they have been given, choreography, and remembering the different things it takes to execute combinations well. Performing on stage does not take much more than what it takes in class. They are very similar but performances tend to be more nerve-wracking. Muscle memory typically comes very easily to dancers on stage because they rehearse so much before performing on stage.

Coordination is something that can come easily to dancers or it can be hard for them to pick up. Dancers have to have lots of mobility to be able to move multiple parts of their body at once. No matter what style of dance people do, they will be moving in different ways and it can be hard for people to control. Whether it’s turning, jumping, or going across the floor, dancers can gain coordination by exploring their movements through their bodies while trying to stay on balance. Coordination is very important for all dancers and it will help them do far in their careers.

Control is an element that dancers learn at a very young age. Being able to control your movements while dancing can be so moving to a teacher or an audience. Specifically in ballet, dancers have to control their movements a lot. Ballet is one of the hardest styles of dance because there are so many different elements it takes to look good. With control being the main element, people who start ballet at a young age will learn control and hopefully take it with them throughout their whole dance career even if they do not continue ballet.

All of these elements are important in dance and can change the way people dance. Dancers have become better because they are thinking about these elements more when performing. Using these elements changes the way people look at dance and gives dancers more credit for what they do because people enjoy watching performances even more. Muscle memory, coordination, and control are all elements that dancers use every day whether they are taking class or performing on stage.
