Huntley freshman forward Ali Andrews and junior guard Amanda Kaniewski advanced to the sectional round of the Queen of the Hill Three Point Showdown on Thursday night.
The Showdown, which started at approximately 6:10, featured a combined 19 players from Huntley, DeKalb, Belvidere North, Rockford East, and Rockford Jefferson. The players had 45 seconds to shoot five balls from the right side, top, and left side of the three-point arc, with the top four players proceeding.
Belvidere’s freshman guard Taylor Martocci and Dekalb’s sophomore forward Madelyne Johson tied Andrews’s high score of nine treys for first place. Kaniewski joined the trio by outshooting freshman point guard Brittney Patrick in a tiebreaker, 3-1, after the two tied for fourth place with eight shots made.
The top shooters will advance to the next round, which will be held next week at the Rockford East Sectional.
