Many people were pouring into Regal Cinemas to see the new “Insurgent” movie. The eager movie-goers were excited, especially myself when I slipped on the 3D glasses that would transport me to my favorite fictional adventure held in Chicago.
“The Divergent Series” is based on the novels by Veronica Roth. “Divergent” kicks off with Tris Prior (Woodley) in the city of Chicago. However, the city is split into five factions. These factions are Dauntless, Erudite, Amity, Candor, and Abnegation. Erudite is known for their role in government takeover, and Tris fights the leader Jeanine (Winslet) to end the turmoil in the city when Jeanine ordered a serum to takeover Dauntless and attack Abnegation. When Tris stops Jeanine, Tris is now on the run with Four (James) , Peter (Teller) , and Caleb (Elgort).
“Insurgent” starts with Tris, Caleb, Peter, and Four seeking refuge in Amity from Erudite. The group is waiting until it is safe, and then they will resume to be on the run again. However, things do not go their way, and Erudite eventually finds them. This does not bode well with the fact that Jeanine found a secret box. This Secret box has an amazing secret that Jeanine is willing to fight for. However, the only way to open up this box is to have a Divergent open the box. To be able to open the box, a Sim needs to be in play for a Divergent. If all five Sims are unlocked, a message will play for the future of Chicago that needs to be heard.
With that in mind, Jeanine stops at nothing to achieve what she wants.
“Insurgent” now plays a huge part and role in the second chapter in “The Divergent Series.” “Divergent” was directed by Neil Burger who put a lot of emphasis and meaning into the story that was needed. “Insurgent” was directed by a new director, Robert Schwentke who put so much action into the film.
Every second of “Insurgent” will leave you on the edge of your seat. Something happens every single second of the film. By the end of “Insurgent,” you will be left with those 3D glasses on with a shocked expression.
I have extremely high hopes for “Allegiant: Part I” that will hit theaters in March of 2016.
